Ibanez RG470
Thanks to the newer age of the internet, I finally managed to track down some
specs and details for my RG470 which I've had for ten years (as of 6/09).
Obviously I won't be listing all RG470 details and information here, as I only
have this one that I was researching for, but I will attempt to cover as much
as possible for you other kids out there who are trying to figure out what you
have. I know it's a pain, and there are a ton of forum posts that are conflicting
and can be very misleading. Just imagine having and loving one for years and
not really knowing for sure what it is, and maybe you'll feel better. Or maybe
not...
Ibanez website This type appears to have been sold between 1997-2002, from sifting the Ibanez historic catalogs, and I assume they are like cars, and are produced and sold as next years model? (I was told mine was a 1999 model and has a 1998 manufacture date, etc...) Here are my details: Ibanez RG470(BK) Black 1999 Model (S/N: F98 44643 - FujiGen Gakki, Matsumoto, Japan - 1998) $900 MSRP, new, 1999 MIJ Wizard II one piece maple neck, rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets (2 octaves), pearl dot inlay Gotoh tuners V8, S1, V7 (H-S-H) Ibanez Vintage pickups, 5-way switch Ibanez Licensed Floyd Rose LO-TRS Tremolo System with locking nut Basswood body Note: If it has V7/V8 pickups, then it's probably a Japanese RG470 (should have Japan stamped all over it). That means it's a Japanese LO-TRS, which is a reasonably good part, and completely different than the mickeymouse Korean TRS and Lo-TRS II that everyone complains about in the forum posts you see, which do appear on various other RG470 versions (see serial number identification information).
